Named Una since she was the only pup in our Golf litter, this pup has been special from the start. She is lovely to look at, sweet as they come and very smart. She is training in tracking, field work, agility and obedience. An example of Una’s versatility were the first two weeks in September 2006 when she earned her Conformation Certificate Assessment (CCA), her Working Certificate Excellent (WCX), her first Double Q in agility, three MX legs and two MXJ legs. Una has also done some advertising work and loves being in front of the camera. You can see her on the Heartgard box these days.
In July 2005, she presented us with eight beautiful pups, the Gambling litter, sired by High Times Run’n the Roost UD MH WCX*** (OS). Although still young, these pups are doing wonderful things in the field, agility and obedience.
After the litter, Una came out in agility, finishing all of her agility titles from NAJ through MX and MXJ in short order. She was then bred again and produced a litter of five in December 2006. You can see more about her second litter sired by Ch Ashford Saffron O’Reilly UDT JH WCX (SDHF/OS) on the Wine Litter page.
Una finished her Senior Hunter title in short order in the Fall of 2008. She came out in conformation in Canada in the Spring of 2009 and finished her Canadian Championship in four shows with three Best of Breed awards and a Sporting Group 2!
Una took a year off while Gayle battled some unknown illness but returned to the field in the spring of 2010, preparing for Master. By fall, she was ready to give it a shot so she entered her and Gayle’s first Master test. She ran a beautiful test and came home with her first orange ribbon in Master. A year later after a few other challenges, Una is Gayle’s first breeder-owner trained and handled Master Hunter and our 15th dog to earn the GRCA’s Versatility Certificate Excellent award. Hey, you know a girl has to keep up with her kids!
Una has also passed the American Temperament Test Societytest. She thought the whole test was a blast, loving the friendly stranger (the evaluator had to call an end to their mutual love fest), checking for birds when the pistol was fired and generally finding the rest of the events interesting. She easily earned her TT title.
Una’s kids are proving to be as talented as she. Her first litter’s efforts made Una a GRCA Outstanding Dam by the time they were three years of age and neither litter is done yet. Una’s kids excel in many venues and include a Qualified All-Age bitch, multiple Master Hunters, and agility, obedience and rall champions, as well as a National Specialty conformation class winner.

Una is OFA Good with normal elbows. Her hips and elbows were x-rayed again when she was spayed and she is still OFA Good with normal elbows at 101 months of age. She has a normal heart. Una had normal eye exams with no findings until she was 4.5 years of age when she was diagnosed with pigmentary uveitis. Due to poor management on my part, Una lost all or most of the vision in one eye from glaucoma in June 2010. We had the eye removed in April 2011 when we could no longer control the pressure. Her other eye is only mildly affected and is stabile on daily drops. She continues to work and train with only slight limitations. In fact, Una earned both her Master Hunter legs after the vision loss!
Although both Una’s sire and dam are/were clear of pigmentary uveitis, she has produced the disease in two of her kids.
