It is hard to believe that Beacon is gone. This beautiful animal, this amazing spirit, this brave soul. Beacon died of complications from lymphosarcoma a few months before his 6th birthday. To the end, he was Jay’s best friend.

Beacon earned his WC at 20 months and his JH and UKC Started Retriever title easily. He also has his Canine Good Citizen title. He is now on the conformation trail with handler, Eileen Hackett. He has ten points, one major and many major reserves. Along the way he’s taken multiple Best of Breeds, even over a special. While on break from the breed ring, Beacon earned his CD in three straight trials, including a 197 (and a 198 for his insurance leg).

Beacon is a lovely mover with a correct, ground covering gait. He has correct bone and substance with a strong topline and correct tail carriage. He carries excellent muscle tone naturally. He has a lovely head and expression, with excellent pigment although I’d like a slightly darker eye. He has full dentition with a scissors bite but does have dropped incisors. He is balanced front to rear in angles but could use a little more angle at both ends. He is a lovely dark gold with a very thick coat that is correct in texture. He is 23” and less than 70 lbs.
