A Vaccine Seminar presented by
Professor and Chair
Department of Pathobiological Sciences
School of Veterinary Medicine
University of Wisconsin-Madison
As many of you know, there is tremendous controversy about canine (and feline) vaccine protocols, at the moment. Dr. Ronald Schultz has more than 45 years of experience in the field of immunology and has been a driving force behind many of the recent changes in vaccine recommendation made by the American Animal Hospital Association and other organizations. Some of his recent research can be found at www.ivis.org/advances/Infect_Dis_Carmichael/schultz/chapter_frm.asp?LA=1. Click here to download Dr. Schultz's curriculum vitae.
"Annual revaccination provides no benefit and may increase the risk for adverse reactions. The percentage of vaccinated animals (those vaccinated only as puppies) protected from clinical disease after challenge with canine distemper virus, canine parvovirus and canine adenovirus in the study was greater than 95%." Dr Ronald Schultz in "Current & Future Canine & Feline Vaccination Programs," Vet Med 3: No. 3, 233-254, 1998.
This seminar will explain when, how and which vaccines should be given to puppies and adult dogs. As importantly, Dr. Schultz will explain why his recommendations are correct based on his and others' research. This is a terrific seminar if you breed, own a dog, and/or are a veterinarian or technician. This version of the seminar will be geared toward the informed dog owner but is still detailed enough for veterinarians and vet techs.
All profits from this seminar go directly to Dr. Schultz's research. Your seminar fee will include coffee/muffins in the morning, lunch, and an afternoon snack.
