“Edel” moved to GA with Lena and David, after their return from Switzerland. She is named for the beautiful alpine flower, the edelweiss.

Much of Edel’s training was preparing her for growing our family. I always imagined having her by my side through motherhood – from changing a diaper in the middle of the night to introducing solids (treats for her and clean up help for me). When the world shut down due to COVID just two months after my son was born, Edel was there. My companion during a time when I really needed one. I was so grateful for her then and always. All of my time with her was a gift. I loved watching her be her – curious, bold, and honest – and felt so underserving of her and how special she was. She was a part of our family and we will always miss her.

The picture attached is one of my favorites because it has so many of my favorite things in it – the woods, camping, my crocs (haha), my dog, and my son (my husband was taking the picture). I sent it to my aunt and said, “I don’t think that it gets better than this.” It’s a moment captured of something that I always hoped for.
