Goose x Scoop Litter Pedigree
Scoop will be bred for the first time this winter. We are very excited about this young bitch and her first breeding. The sire of this litter Lise Pratt's Goose, MACH; Can. CH Gaylan's Born to Fly CD SH NF WCX OS VCX ADHF CCA.
Goose has excelled in many venues. He is an AKC Master Agility Champion and is the GRCA's Agility Hall of Fame. In the field, he has earned his AKC Senior Hunter title, passed the GRCA's Working Certificate Excellent and is running Master Hunt tests. In conformation, he is a Canadian Champion and has earned the GRCA's Certificate of Conformation Assessment (CCA). Goose and Lise have just started in obedience, but he easily earned his CD title with nice scores. All of these accomplishments have qualified him for the GRCA's Versatility Certificate Excellent.
Goose is hard-driving, intense dog who is a real team player and has a wonderful off switch. He is a gifted marker with excellent water courage and birdiness in the field. He is fast and agile in agility. At 10, Goose is still running and training in field and agility. He is sound and healthy with no chronic health problems.
Goose's kids are showing themselves to be as multi-talented as their dad. In fact, his very first litter made him a GRCA Outstanding Sire. He now has produced Obedience Trial Champions, Agility Trial Champions, Champion Trackers, Master Hunters and more. You can see more about his kids here.
Goose's sire was Jake, Ch Celestial Sirius Jake CDX JH WC OS/SDHF, a Best in Show, Best in Specialty winner sired by the great Expo. When combined with our Flyer, Jake produced the Flying litter, dogs that truly have done it all.
Scoop is a lovely young girl who is competing in hunt tests and agility. She loves her birds, is an excellent marker who has water courage and lots of drive. She will be running Senior Hunt tests next year. In agility, Scoop finished her OA and OAJ in six shows. In her only weekend showing this year she earned one leg toward both her AX and AXJ titles, and should finish those titles this fall. Scoop has a wonderful on/off switch making her very easy to live with, yet lots of fun to train.
Scoop is a solidly built girl with nice, balanced angles front and rear, moving cleanly coming and going. She has a lovely topline, correct tailset and tail carriage. Her head is pleasant with average pigment, a dark eye, full dentition and a scissors bite. Her coat is red-gold in color, thick with a wave throughout and dries quickly. She easily passed the GRCA's Certificate of Conformation Assessment on her first attempt.
Scoop has PennHIP scores of .29/.30 (meaning her hips are better than 90% of the Golden Retrievers tested ), OFA Excellent hips, normal elbows, heart and eyes. Since Pigmentary Uveitis has become a significant problem for the breed, to get the best possible information available for breeding decisions, in addition to her 2011 CERF, Scoop had her eyes ultrasounded by Dr. John Sapienza. There was no evidence of cilliary body cysts (sometimes known as iris cysts in the posterior chamber) in her eyes at this time. Although we don't know for sure, these cysts may precede the development of pigmentary uveitis. Scoop also does not carry either gene for prcd-PRA. Scoop recently tested low for thyroid production so we have started her on medication. She has no skin allergies and has not had any ear infections or hot spots.
Scoop is from our Ice Cream Litter, that made their dam Chex an Outstanding Dam before they were three years old. Her littermates include:
- MACH Gaylan's Rainbow Promise Parfait
- MACH Gaylan's Jamaican Me Crazy JH VC ADHF CCA AD
- Gaylan's Roddenberry A La Mode SH WC CCA
- Gaylan's Peaches 'n Cream MX MXJ XF AD
- Gaylan's Caramel Sundae AX OAJ OF NAC
- Gaylan's Kimberlite Ice
- U-CDX Gaylan's P'Nut Butter Cup Sundae CDX TD JH WCX VC CCA (UD leg)
- HR UH Gaylan's Safari Traxx SH AX MXJ XF WCX VC CCA
In this combination of Scoop and Goose, we expect pups similar to our Gambling litter--intelligent, focused working dogs with the ability to excel in any performance game. Most will be able to compete at high levels in multiple venues: hunt tests, agility, obedience, rally or tracking. They will also be good looking, well built, confident, and stable animals who will seek to be working partners with their trainers. This pedigree is very strong in hips, hearts and elbows though there is a risk of pigmentary uveitis and possibly hypothyroidism in the pups.
This litter will be raised nearby with Scoop's owners, Marcy and Jim Burke, using our puppy raising system and brought to Gaylan's at 6.5 weeks for socialization, development and assessment. They will be placed here at Gaylan's at 8.5 weeks.
